Other Lighthouse Information:
The Yaquina Bay lighthouse became obsolete after only three years because the Yaquina Head lighthouse was built. The Bay lighthouse is in Yaquina Bay State Park off of Highway 101. The museum is furnished with period pieces and is open daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. One can walk up two flights of stairs to the watch room, but the lantern room is not open. It is the only wooden lighthouse in Oregon to still be standing. Remember the Yaquina Head lighthouse is only a five mile drive north.
The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
The Yaquina Bay lighthouse was our third of five lighthouses for the day. We spent only a short time taking pictures of the lighthouse with our 35 mm camera and our new Nikon 5700 digital camera. We still had another 200 miles to drive north. Next time we'll take many more pictures.
Photographed it: June 10, 2003
