The Sea Girt lighthouse is on the corner of Beacon Boulevard and Ocean Avenue. There are 42 stairs to the lantern room so it is an easy climb compared to other lighthouses. This is a fully restored Victorian structure and it's furnished with the historical period. It was built to bridge the gap of 40 miles of coast between the Twin Lights of Navesink and Barnegat lighthouses. With the morning sun at your back, one can take some photographs from the beautiful beach. Check out their website for the hours of operation. Many New Jersey lighthouses, including this one, take part in the annual NJ Lighthouse Challenge.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
We've been here several times mainly because we are only about an hour away. We were vendors at the Sea Girt Lighthouse during the 2006 and 2007 NJ Lighthouse Challenge weekends. We had fun talking to challengers about lighthouses and lighthouse vacations. We both climbed the lighthouse on October 21, 2007 after the 8th Annual New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge.Photographed it: several times, the last visit was on October 21, 2007
