The Barnegat Lightship has a length of 129' 0", a beam of 28' 6", a draft of 12' 6", and displaces 668 tons. It has been sitting in the mud for many years and hopefully will get repaired and taken care of soon before we lose another piece of history to neglect.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
While looking for the Pyne Poynt Marina we found a hidden sign in the trees on the right. We were nervous getting out of the car because of the large scary looking dogs. Once we were given permission and the dogs were secured we quickly stepped around the numerous piles of dog droppings and took our shots. Because of the boats in dry dock near the lightship there aren't too many places to photograph from. The only good shot would be from the water. On May 21, 2011 we were on the Bonanza II boat with 50 NJLHS members photographing the lights in the Delaware River for 12 hours. The highlight of the trip was this and the Ship John Shoal lighthouse. It looks like the weeds are really taking over the marina even more.Photographed it: June 8, 2000, June 21, 2007, May 21, 2011
