The Lightship Columbia was the first lightship on the West Coast. There were five lightships with the name Columbia that were stationed at the mouth of the Columbia River. The Lightship Columbia WLV-604 was the last lightship to serve on the West Coast. While in service it had 17 crewmembers with ten men on duty at all times. It was decommissioned in 1979 and arrived at the Columbia River Maritime Museum on December 9, 1980. It is now an attraction at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. There is also a huge anchor near the lightship. The Lightship Columbia has a length of 128' 0", a beam of 30', a draft of 11', and displaces 617 tons. While the pier gets repaired the lightship will be temporarily relocated from its dock at the 17th Street Pier and will return to reopen for tours in the summer of 2013.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
