The Finns Point lighthouse is part of the Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge contains more than three thousand pristine acres of meadows, marsh and woodlands. Twenty-two hundred acres of the refuge is tidal marsh, 400 acres is forest and forested wetlands, the remaining acres consists of wetlands, upland shrub habitat and some open water. There are 119 spiral steps then another 11 steps up a ladder to get to the lantern room. In 1951 the lighthouse became obsolete and it was permanently extinguished. The lighthouse has been closed to the public since 2006. Many New Jersey lighthouses take part in the annual NJ Lighthouse Challenge. This lighthouse is not included at this time but maybe it will be again in the future.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
We've been to the Finns Point Rear Range lighthouse several times over the years. It's a shame we never got to go inside to climb the lighthouse.Photographed it: several times, the last visit was on March 9, 2007
