Other Lighthouse Information:
The Broadwater Beach lighthouse is cylindrical with an open lantern. It was built in 1965? as part of the Broadwater Beach Resort, which was destroyed by Hurricane Camille in 1969. This lighthouse was part of the President Casino Broadwater Resort, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The privately owned lighthouse is around 66 feet tall and emits a white light every five seconds. The park area around the lighthouse is a popular location for fishing and watching the sunset.
The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
In 2018 we were on the USLHS Gulf Coast Tour with 38 other lighthouse hunters. The charter bus brought us to the Gulf Coast lights in four states and to the several boat charters. We prefer to drive ourselves and to take pictures of the lighthouses without having to wait for the masses to leave.
