The Duluth North Pier lighthouse is on the northern breakwater. You can get a good view with all three lighthouses from the waterfront of Canal Park or from the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. Across the canal are the two South Breakwater lights. On nice days the breakwalls are often filled with people walking or fishing. On stormy days it can be a very dangerous, possibly deadly, place to be.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
When we first saw this light in 2001 we walked on the breakwater to it. Then in 2009 we were on the Vista Fleet Harbor Cruise. During the 90 minute cruise we slowly pass the three lighthouses and went under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. The boat took us through the canal out past the two outer breakwater lights. We finally got the perspective of a ship coming into a safe harbor. It was a nice inexpensive boat trip. The following day on our way out of Minnesota we stopped by again. I stood on the Lift Bridge and took a picture of all three lights in the same shot.Photographed it: September 23, 2001 / July 27-28, 2009 / July 19, 2012
