The Chicago Harbor Southeast Guidewall lighthouse sits at the end of the guidewall, across from the Chicago Harbor light. The lighthouse marks the entrance to the Chicago River and an inland waterway leading to the Mississippi River. It is just south of the number one tourist atraction in Chicago, the Navy Pier. One can either pay to park close to the water or walk from far away. The lighthouse is visible from several locations along Chicago's Lake Michigan waterfront. You can also see it closer from some harbor cruises leaving Chicago. Don't forget about the Chicago Harbor lighthouse across the opening.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
Tommy saw the Chicago Harbor lights in August 2000 after the 62nd Biennial NALC National Convention meetings. We saw them together for the first time distantly in 2001. In 2006 we parked and walked around a little. Then we took the half hour Skyline Lake tour with Shoreline Sightseeing. We had a nice time on the boat finally getting closer to the two Chicago Harbor lights. On June 28, 2010 we were aboard the 110 foot Keweenaw Star photographing these lights and 19 others for the day.
