The Tybee Island lighthouse is located on the southern side of the mouth of the Savannah River. Over the years the lighthouse, the head keeper's house, the first assistant's house, and the second assistant's house all had renovations done. The Tybee Island Light Station is one of the most well maintained stations in the United States. The lighthouse, museum and gift shop are all a nice place to visit.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
When we visited the Tybee Island lighthouse in April 2003 it had an American flag with a big yellow ribbon on it. Out of Tybee Island, GA on April 19, 2007 we were aboard Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours . We took this boat trip so we could get pretty close to the Cockspur Island light. Before heading back to the marina we distantly saw the Tybee Island light. We weren't able to get too close to Tybee Island due to the tides. We enjoyed seeing a few dolphins and pelicans during our 75 minute boat trip. It was nice to see the Tybee Island lighthouse at different times of the day.
